1. Where are you based? Are you open to travel to other locations?
We are Toronto-based but open to travel worldwide. We have 2 branches, Toronto, Ontario, and New Delhi, India. No extra charges if the event’s location is within 50KMs from Toronto. After that - $1/km.
2. What is your style of photography? How many years of experience do you have as DustyShades?
We at Dustyshades, adopt a narrative strategy to photography which essentially implies that I favor candid, genuine, and unscripted moments. That doesn't imply that I don't pose. When it comes time to take the Group or Family photographs, I'll positively provide you guidance and will direct you with poses and placements.
3. For photography, how many pictures can we expect at our event? What about video packages?
There is no fixed number of pictures which we will give you at an event. It depends upon the event and its content. Things like the size of your wedding party, number of visitors, period of time taken for portraits, location, number of photographers, number of cameras, travel time between areas, and so on all have their influence on the number of photographs you will end up with. But Yes, you can expect 40-50 pictures per hour. You can simply multiply this by the number of hours you have in your package. This will give you a lump sum idea of the number of pictures. We try to capture as many moments as we can, after all, it’s your BIG DAY. For Videography, you can expect a highlight video of 4-6 minutes and a long duration summary video will be a compilation of all the videos of the event.
4. Do we provide next-day edit highlights?
Yes, We do provide the next-day edit service. Charges are 500$.
5. What equipment will we use at our events?
This is one of the most amazing questions to ask your photographer but on the same hand, we would like to mention this, Creativity and photography depend upon the person who is using that camera, not on the camera. For the record, I have been a Canon user since the beginning. I have my own kit which includes a couple of Canon prime lenses and DJI equipment such as drones and gimbals.
6. Will you be posting pictures from our wedding on your website, Instagram, Facebook, or any other social sites?
Yes, I will likely share some of your pictures on social sites. If there’s an issue, please let me know in advance. Our intentions are just to show our work to other couples. This gives them an idea of what we're gonna do on their big day.
7. What is your turnaround time for pictures and videos?
DustyShades is a little group that works together instead of a one-man army, so my completion time is without a doubt quicker than most wedding photographers. We deliver full wedding pictures in the span of about a month and a half of your wedding date (typically sooner) and E-shoots or mini sessions are delivered in a month or less. Some pictures will be shared with you as sneak peeks over google drive within a few days from your wedding, so you have something to share with loved ones immediately! For videos, we deliver highlight videos of your event within a month from your wedding day. Long-duration videos of your events will be shared within 2 months from your wedding day.
8. What is your booking process?
We’ve kept our booking procedure as simple as possible.You can go through our work, can ask for more pictures and videos to look into, and when you are ready to book your BIG Day with us, we can do a zoom call with one of our team members who will be assigned to your photography project. This will help you in getting an idea of how Photography and videography will be carried out at your events. Once everything is ready, You can finalize your events with us with a non-refundable retainer for blocking those dates for you in our calendar. A contract will be shared with you over email and you need to digitally sign it.
9. Do you deliver raw files?
No, we don't deliver raw files. Photography and videography are like art and we play around with a lot of things in the post-production part in our studio. We edit in terms of exposure, colors, and a lot of other things are corrected and improvised in the post-production step. We make it magical for you.
10. Do you provide albums too?
Yes, We provide a variety of wedding albums depending upon your style, taste, and choice. Different sizes are available for albums. Please ask for some samples anytime.
11. Do you have second shooters for engagements, weddings, and reception events?
Yes, depending upon your budget and number of guests, you can always ask for a second shooter. It’s a good opportunity to get a different angle of pictures on your events. We have the capacity of providing a team of 6-8 shooters depending upon the size of the event.
12. If I need to cancel my event, is the retainer refundable?
Retainer is a non-refundable booking amount that we take for blocking those dates in our calendar for your event. We don’t take multiple events for the same day. We focus on one event a day so that we can give you the best out of it. If you cancel before 60 days of an event, you can use the retainer as a credit for the future. You can also transfer this credit with friends or anyone if you want to. Any cancellation within 60 days, the retainer will be kept.
13. We’re super nervous when it comes to photography. We both are super shy in front of the camera. How to handle it?
For this thing, just relax! Each and every individual who steps before the camera is anxious. To be honest, I get 't-rex arms' the moment you point the camera at me, so I feel ya. We avoid highly posing and formal 'prom photos', and will guide you getting your pictures around, connect with each other, and for the most part having a good time and fun time together. I have a stockpile of amazing poses for my couples and family shots, and a humiliating number of terrible jokes to keep you moving, laughing, and having fun. Numerous I take on a big day are candid shots, so for the majority of the day, you will not know about the camera. Every one of my couples remarks on how astonished they are by how normally their photos unfurl and love the number of candid pictures I deliver that they weren't even aware of.
